Marking Electrical Wires and Connectors

This couple of tips for marking electrical connections from builder Roy Kokenge might save you some time when you are doing your wiring.

rit-dyeDye for connectors: Rit dye at about $2 per color will dye the nylon electrical connectors any color you choose. Use different matching colors for different connections. Leaving the connector in the dye overnight usually works. Warming the dye also helps.

Heat shrink tubing: comes in a variety of colors and sizes. Sharpie permanent markers also come in various colors and will permanently mark the tubing. Use both to mark matching cables and wires. It makes a nice neat label instead of tags of tape flapping in the breeze.marker_and_heat_shrink
