The pictures are of my wood gear dampers installed on my GlaStar. I used mahogany base molding glued together to form a faired shape that will match the inside of the metal gear fairings. I cut a concave shape to match the diameter of the gear leg, then cut a notch to route the brake line. A plastic tube is set in this notch when the wood is bonded to the gear leg. This tube is almost 1/4 inch ID so the SH supplied brake line can be fed through it. This also makes it easy to change the brake line in the future. I bonded two wood leading edge blocks that match the leading edge of the aluminum fairing. This makes the fairing rock solid on the gear leg. I routed the brake line under the gear leg, wrapping it around the front to make a gentle turn to the brake fitting on the brake housing. The brake line is protected (anti chafe) at the bottom of the aluminum gear fairing with a 6″ piece of the plastic tube that was bonded inside of the wood fairing. I bought the tubing from Eagle Hardware for $0.11 a foot. It’s very flexible and milky white in color.
